About the position

The Specialist, Claim Operations position at Travelers involves providing front-line administrative and general office assistance to internal customers and third-party vendors. The role focuses on supporting proper claim handling practices, including financial transactions and maintaining accurate claim information. This entry-level position requires strong attention to detail and effective time management skills, working under close supervision in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Enter data, type and copy forms and documents including claim diaries and notes.
  • Request police reports.
  • Print documents from the Claim Platform electronic File Cabinet.
  • Review payments for proper billing and coding.
  • Maintain paper and/or electronic documents in claim file folders or electronic file cabinet, ensuring accuracy and tidiness.
  • Prepare, generate and review monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc reports, documents and presentations using effective technology.
  • Update basic data discrepancies identified in reports as required.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports.
  • Process claim payments including cancelled checks, voided checks, and recoveries, and document activity on systems note screens.
  • Ensure timeliness and accuracy of all check processing.
  • Recommend alternative workflows to create efficiencies.
  • Photocopy, scan and upload documents to the virtual file cabinet.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word/Excel.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize daily assignments.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient computer skills and ability to learn new applications.

Nice-to-haves

  • University/College degree and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Comfortable with newer and emerging technology and tools.
