About the position

The Content Development Specialist at Wiley is responsible for the assessment, development, and delivery of content, focusing on the expansion of preproduction services. This role collaborates closely with the Managing Editorial and Vendor Management teams to ensure the successful delivery of content across Trade publishing programs. The specialist will manage resources to support publishing requirements and will work across Operations, Editorial, and Publishing functions.

Responsibilities

  • Manage CDWC hiring for Trade freelance DEs.
  • Track expenses and report quarterly to Manager, Content Development.
  • Serve as a resource for Trade Managing Editors and Acquisitions Editors.
  • Ensure trade DEs are reporting status of projects as required.
  • Review incoming manuscripts to check for acceptability.
  • Ensure documentation needed for freelancers is being updated continuously.
  • Spearhead the creation of a consistent archiving process for Trade and Dummies.
  • Work with Manager, Content Development to create a consistent file delivery process that is accessible to Wiley and freelancers.
  • Manage and track technical editing and peer review hiring for non-Dummies.

Requirements

  • Degree in a relevant field
  • Publishing/retail sales experience
  • Detail-oriented with project management skills
  • Experience with administrative work
  • Self-starter
  • Experience working with Copy editors.
