About the position

This is an electrical engineering design position responsible for developing Test Fixtures and Test Rack assemblies within the Space & Airborne Systems (SAS) Segment of L3Harris. The team, located in Rochester, NY, specializes in designing Electrical Specialized Test Equipment (ESTE) in the form of test sets and fixtures that are utilized in missions across various domains that the SAS segment designs mission deliverable hardware for. The designed ESTE Racks are integral to space-based applications, avionics systems, and verification testing purposes. Team members are expected to have a general working knowledge of electrical test equipment, including Power Supplies, Logic Analyzers, and Oscilloscopes, as well as National Instruments hardware such as PXI Chassis, Data Acquisition Modules, and Digital I/O Modules, or other Automated Test Equipment (ATE) systems. Essential functions of this role include performing both analog and digital circuit design, developing custom cables and harnesses, and providing engineering support for existing ESTE equipment used at the Rochester facility. The position also requires creating requirements and design documentation for Electrical Test Fixtures, verification documents, validation procedures, and other technical documents as necessary, while ensuring adherence to defined design processes. Collaboration with engineering personnel is crucial to ensure compliance with customer expectations and requirements. Additionally, experience in LabVIEW/TestStand development is essential for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Test Fixtures and Test Rack assemblies for Electrical Specialized Test Equipment (ESTE).
  • Perform analog and digital circuit design.
  • Develop custom cables and harnesses for testing purposes.
  • Provide engineering support for existing ESTE equipment at the Rochester facility.
  • Create requirements and design documentation for Electrical Test Fixtures.
  • Develop verification documents and validation procedures as needed.
  • Ensure adherence to defined design processes while meeting program schedules and budget constraints.
  • Collaborate with engineering personnel to meet customer expectations and requirements.
  • Conduct technical presentations as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering Technology with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Graduate Degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.
  • In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 8 years of prior related experience is acceptable.
  • Ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance.
  • 4+ years of relevant engineering test experience.
  • Experience in analog and digital circuit design and proficiency with E/M-CAD tools.
  • Experience with environmental testing of electrical subsystems (TVAC, EMI, or Vibration).

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong lab skills including hands-on build and debug of equipment and root-cause analysis.
