About the position

The Flight Instructor (CFI) position involves providing comprehensive instruction on aircraft systems, training maneuvers, and procedures to students both on the ground and in-flight. The instructor is responsible for ensuring that students understand the training materials, maintaining high training quality, and meeting Academy goals related to student performance and completion.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction on aircraft systems, training maneuvers, procedures, and other flight-related subjects both on the ground and in the aircraft during a flight.
  • Conduct preflight/post flight debriefings and provide in-flight instruction to ensure students have a thorough understanding and comprehension of the training materials.
  • Maintain the quality (pass rate) of flight training at or above 80%.
  • Ensure that all Academy goals are met, including pass rate, timely student completion, student flight hour limitations, and timely completion of student's training records.
  • Make recommendations to the Group Manager for corrective action to be taken when issues arise.
  • Regularly schedule each assigned student to ensure progress through the course.
  • Maintain the flight training standards as outlined by both FAA and L3 Airline Academy.
  • Maintain policies and procedures of the Operations Manual.
  • Ensure that the assigned student's training record and folder is tracked and updated in accordance with L3 Airline Academy and FAA policy.
  • Provide customer service-oriented and professional instruction according to L3 Airline Academy policy.

Requirements

  • Graduated from L3Harris Flight Academy at either Sanford, FL or Jacksonville, FL locations, or currently enrolled in Jacksonville University's School of Aviation majoring in Flight Operations.
  • For applicants currently enrolled in the Flight Operation degree, completion of all flight training labs is required to be considered for the position.
  • Current FAA Certified Flight Instructor Certificate.
  • CFII Certificate.
  • MEI, Stage Check and End of Course Qualified.
