About the position

The Specialist I TIS Data and Analytics leads data engineering efforts for Enbridge's data analytics products and solutions. This role involves understanding business imperatives, conducting value assessments, and supporting the prioritization of opportunities within the data analytics portfolio. The specialist will also assist in solutions architecture, data engineering, and strategic planning, while ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Understand strategic imperatives of the business and conduct value assessments to support prioritization of opportunities.
  • Assist in solutions architecture, data engineering, DevOps, and analytics related strategic planning activities.
  • Lead data engineering from an operational standpoint and provide expert recommendations for data engineering product design.
  • Partner with TIS Functional teams in delivery and sustainment of data analytics product needs.
  • Organize the work efforts of the Data and Analytics teams using Agile methodology to ensure timely alignment with customer requests.
  • Implement and provide insight to standards, guidelines, and best practices for the data management program.
  • Make decisions on complex data issues regarding technical approaches for project and operational components.
  • Act as a liaison between Data and Analytics team and external analytics service providers.
  • Provide strategic and expert guidance in the development of data engineering models.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of progressively professional experience in a computer engineering role.
  • Deep understanding of modern data engineering and big data analytics technologies.
  • Sophisticated knowledge of relational, NoSQL, or NewSQL database systems; data modeling; and managing structured and unstructured data.
  • Experience with scaling data engineering solutions using development tools for CI/CD, unit and integration testing, orchestration.
  • Advanced programming skills in Python, Scala, Kafka, Hive, JavaScript, JQuery, JSON, REST API, and experience with Apache Spark.
  • Technical experience in leading the development of data engineering pipelines using Databricks.
  • Understanding of parallel and distributed data processing techniques and platforms.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of data governance practices and technology issues related to managing enterprise data.
  • Knowledge of Agile development best practices and experience with tools such as GitHub.
