About the position

The CDV Specialist II role at Merrick Bank is focused on managing and investigating consumer complaints related to credit reporting. This position involves collaboration with affiliate and external agencies to address disputes and ensure compliance with relevant regulations. The specialist will also support the implementation of updated processes and procedures, facilitating testing and ensuring accuracy in case investigations.

Responsibilities

  • Research complex and escalated disputes through e-OSCAR and written disputes from consumers.
  • Handle and manage disputes associated with complaints, providing root cause analysis.
  • Execute and assist in creating department policies and procedures for accurate investigations.
  • Manage effective communication with escalated customers through correspondence.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on FCRA, Req. Z, and FACT Act regulations.
  • Identify areas of opportunity within department processes and coordinate improvements with leadership.
  • Test updates to procedures, processes, and systems during implementation phases.
  • Plan, organize, and schedule assignments/projects to ensure completion.
  • Assist the leadership team as directed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent education required.
  • Two years of prior financial or credit card industry experience required.
  • Two years of work experience with eOSCAR or credit reporting agencies required.
  • Strong analytical skills with emphasis on fraud investigation and compliance.
  • Solid understanding of consumer credit regulations including FCRA, FACT Act, TILA, ECOA.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and under pressure.
  • Proven planning, organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work with multiple data sources and drive data insights.

Nice-to-haves

  • Intermediate level user of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel).
  • Ability to maintain thorough knowledge of Bank policies and procedures.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in business, regulatory, and economic environments.
