About the position

The Payroll Specialist II at LG Energy Solution Michigan Inc. (LGESMI) plays a crucial role in ensuring the timely and accurate payment of wages while maintaining compliance with internal and external regulations. This position is integral to the payroll process, requiring a close partnership with both internal customers and external service providers. The Payroll Specialist will also engage with LGES Headquarters in South Korea on occasion, making this role vital for the execution of LGESMI's strategic plans. The specialist will analyze payroll and related expenses, providing valuable insights to the management team to aid in decision-making. In this role, the Payroll Specialist will develop and implement processes to ensure the timely collection of payroll information. This includes auditing and maintaining personal, employment, payroll, and time & attendance databases. The specialist will be responsible for processing multi-jurisdictional and multi-cycle payrolls, ensuring that payroll practices comply with company policies and legal standards. Additionally, the Payroll Specialist will handle employee inquiries, correct payments, and analyze expense analytics to report to management. The position also involves preparing tax documents and processing amendments as necessary, supplying payroll records for internal and external stakeholders, and performing any other payroll-related duties as assigned. The specialist will maintain cleanliness at the work site in accordance with 5S3R Standards, which include sorting, setting in order, shining, standardizing, and sustaining the right location, quantity, and container for materials. This role is essential for maintaining the integrity and efficiency of the payroll function within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Develop processes to ensure timely collection of payroll information
  • Audit and maintain personal, employment, payroll, and time & attendance database
  • Process multi jurisdiction, multi-cycle payrolls and facilitate payroll/benefits funding
  • Ensure payroll practices comply with company policies and legal standards
  • Handle employee inquiries and correct payments
  • Analyze and report expense analytics to management
  • Prepare tax documents and process amendments as necessary
  • Supply payroll records for internal/external stakeholders as needed
  • Perform any other payroll related duties as assigned
  • Maintain cleanliness at work-site in accordance with 5S3R Standards: Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain Right Location, Right Quantity, Right Container
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required, MBA or MS preferred, or equivalent, relevant experience
  • 3 to 6+ years of corporate payroll processing or related experience
  • Extensive knowledge of multi-state payroll laws, corporate payroll functions, workforce analytics and best practices
  • Ability to use good judgment and discretion with highly confidential business and team member information
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • High level of proficiency with MS Office Suite (Excel) and payroll software (ADP WFN preferred)
