About the position

The Information Security Systems Engineer is responsible for applying current systems security engineering methods and practices to ensure the security of systems and networks throughout their lifecycle. This role involves working closely with government customers to define and implement security requirements, integrating various security methods, and preparing necessary documentation for security authorization. The engineer will also support security engineering activities and represent program security needs in customer meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Apply current systems security engineering methods and practices to architecture, design, development, evaluation, and integration of systems and networks.
  • Work closely with government customers to define and implement security protection needs and requirements.
  • Integrate multiple methods into a cohesive system security perimeter and environment.
  • Prepare Certification and Accreditation documentation using multiple standards under RMF and derivative processes.
  • Support security engineering activities including requirements development, design, test, and configuration management.
  • Assist in the development of policies and procedures for emerging security technologies.
  • Support evaluation, qualification, testing, and delivery of security architecture improvements and vulnerability response projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 4 years of relevant experience, or Graduate Degree and minimum 2 years of related experience, or 8 years of prior related experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience in Risk Management Framework (RMF) accreditation and authorization processes.
  • Knowledge of NSA Type 1 Certification of cryptographic high value products.
  • Experience with DoD software selection and approval processes for COTS, GOTS, and FOSS.
  • Minimum of Collateral Secret security clearance required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD 8140 certification (or NIST 800-181) within 6 months of start.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in configuration and use of cyber defense and vulnerability assessment tools such as ACAS and SCC.
  • Program Protection and System Security Engineering experience including support of accreditation activities.
  • Experience in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
  • Windows and Linux system administration skills.
  • Experience in the content development and administration of SEIM/audit reduction tools (e.g., Splunk).
  • Active Top Secret / SCI security clearance is highly desired.
