About the position

The Information Security Systems Engineer is responsible for applying current systems security engineering methods and technologies to ensure the security of systems and networks. This role involves working closely with government customers to define and implement security requirements throughout the system lifecycle, ensuring compliance with various standards and frameworks. The engineer will also be involved in the design and evaluation of secure systems and networks, utilizing encryption technology and vulnerability analysis to maintain a cohesive security environment.

Responsibilities

  • Apply systems security engineering methods to architecture, design, development, evaluation, and integration of systems and networks.
  • Work with government customers to define and implement security protection needs and requirements.
  • Collaborate with systems developers and vendors to design and evaluate secure systems and networks.
  • Utilize encryption technology, vulnerability analysis, and security management methods.
  • Integrate multiple security methods into a cohesive system security perimeter and environment.
  • Prepare Certification and Accreditation documentation under RMF and related processes.
  • Represent program security needs at customer meetings.
  • Support security engineering activities including requirements development and configuration management.
  • Assist in developing policies and procedures for emerging security technologies.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments and support security architecture improvement projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or a Graduate Degree with a minimum of 2 years of related experience, or 8 years of prior related experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Top Secret / SCI security clearance required.
  • DOD 8570.01M IAT-3 or IASAE-2 certification.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in C2S Cloud authorizations, FedRAMP, and DISA CSP requirements.
  • Experience in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
  • Windows and Linux system administration skills.
  • Experience with SEIM/audit reduction tools like Splunk.
  • DOD 8570.01M IASAE-3 certification is desired.
  • Strong understanding of engineering processes and information security systems engineering principles (NIST SP800-160 Vol1).
  • Experience in Cyber Defense technologies.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD, agile system development, and DevSecOps tools and processes.
