About the position

The Specialist Integrated Test Engineer at L3Harris is responsible for leading system test activities for high-reliability space hardware assemblies. This role requires expert knowledge in engineering concepts and the ability to develop comprehensive test programs for radiometric imaging and non-imaging spaceflight products. The engineer will manage complex project initiatives, oversee system test efforts, and ensure compliance with engineering standards while interfacing with cross-functional teams and customers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead system test activities on proposals, program products, and prototype hardware for space hardware assemblies.
  • Generate system test documentation including Test Requirements Documents, Test Design Documents, and Test Procedures.
  • Direct support personnel in executing system test readiness tasks.
  • Manage medium to complex project initiatives involving large cross-functional teams.
  • Oversee high visibility system test efforts, including cost, schedule, and technical responsibilities.
  • Plan and request manpower, equipment, and process resources for testing.
  • Interface with design engineers and suppliers to ensure hardware producibility.
  • Support the build and modification of system test equipment and resolve manufacturing issues.
  • Support process improvement initiatives and root cause corrective action processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or a Graduate Degree with 2 years of experience, or 8 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in system integration and testing, preferably in Space Systems.
  • Knowledge of MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-1540, NASA GEVS, and/or SMC-S-016.
  • Experience in implementing lean/six sigma techniques such as FMEA, DFMA, DTC, DOE, and RCCA analysis.

Nice-to-haves

  • Background in manufacturing electronics for high reliability military and government systems.
  • Experience in development and low to medium rate initial production efforts.
  • Knowledge of MIL/IPC workmanship and performance standards related to electronic assemblies.
  • Familiarity with circuit card assemblies (CCAs) and cable assemblies.
  • Good communication skills for effective presentations to peers, management, and customers.
