About the position

The Inventory Specialist position is responsible for managing inventory materials and supplies at the Mont Belvieu Fractionation Warehouses. This role involves collaboration with Supply Chain, Maintenance, Operations personnel, and vendors to ensure accurate inventory levels and documentation. The specialist will evaluate incoming and outgoing materials, maintain safety and environmental standards, and support warehouse operations effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate requests to add new items to inventory, including adjustments to minimum/maximum levels and reclassification of inventory as required.
  • Analyze slow moving data reports quarterly and adjust inventory levels as necessary.
  • Develop and maintain a catalog of materials to be purchased and stored to support the facility.
  • Work with vendors to obtain quotes for required materials.
  • Process requisitions, work orders, and shipping orders, issuing material to end users utilizing the SAP-MM system.
  • Identify potential sourcing issues/disruptions and determine appropriate corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Procurement to provide suitable replacement materials in emergency situations.
  • Resolve shipping discrepancies and damages with Procurement and Logistics as they occur.
  • Verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records by comparing identifying information and counting, weighing, or measuring items of incoming and outgoing shipments.
  • Prepare inventory materials for long-term storage and ensure inventory is maintained in a usable condition.
  • Submit inventory forms for processing and generate inventory requisitions into SAP-MM.
  • Report daily receipts for procured materials to the Document Controls group for posting into SAP-MM.
  • Analyze and reconcile inventory cycle counts, including verification of material certifications on file as required.
  • Ensure warehouse transactions are recorded accurately and processed in a timely manner.
  • Facilitate the sale and/or disposal of obsolete/scrap inventory and surplus materials.
  • Coordinate with Operations and Supply Chain to ensure Materials Management Guidelines are adhered to by all involved.
  • Assist with managing daily warehouse operations.
  • Assist with heavy manual work, loading and unloading materials from trucks and trailers by hand, hand truck/dolly, and/or forklift equipment as needed.
  • Participate in on-call schedule to support after-hours call outs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2+ years of related experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook.
  • Ability to multi-task and handle changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to safely operate a forklift.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and demonstrated equivalent competency may supplant the bachelor's degree.
