About the position

The Specialist, Investment Accounting role at Lincoln Financial is responsible for providing timely and accurate accounting and reporting for investment and derivatives data related to the General Account Invested Assets. This position involves performing securities research, analysis, and ensuring compliance with various accounting standards including Statutory, GAAP, Management, and Tax. The role requires collaboration with key stakeholders to enhance the investment accounting process and maintain internal controls for SOX compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates effectively with key stakeholders to complete the investment accounting process accurately and timely.
  • Communicates identified risks and financial implications to management.
  • Ensures responsibilities are completed accurately and on time.
  • Identifies and communicates process improvements to management.
  • Maintains investment accounting's internal control system for SOX compliance.
  • Stays updated on current developments and trends in investment accounting.
  • Prepares and communicates technical financial documents and presentations for various audiences.
  • Prepares earning memos and analysis for the general account team.
  • Prepares financial footnote information for SEC, GAAP, and statutory reporting.
  • Supports change management and departmental initiatives within assigned areas.
  • Provides accounting information on fixed income and derivative investments for compliance with regulations.
  • Resolves discrepancies related to General Account Invested Assets from portfolio management and asset managers.
  • Supports the preparation of industry and governmental surveys.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's)
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in investment accounting or accounting systems
  • Technical knowledge in investment accounting
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Strong relationship management skills with internal and external clients
  • Ability to identify and recommend process improvements
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
