The Specialist, Investment Accounting role at Lincoln Financial Group is designed to provide timely and accurate accounting and reporting for the General Account Invested Assets across various financial reporting standards including Statutory, GAAP, Management, and Tax. This position is crucial in performing securities research, analysis, and ensuring proper accounting treatment of Lincoln Financial Group's investment positions, thereby supporting strategic investment operations and initiatives. The role requires collaboration with key stakeholders across the enterprise to facilitate the accurate and timely completion of the investment accounting process for assigned areas of responsibility. In this position, the specialist will communicate identified risks and financial implications to management, ensuring that responsibilities are completed accurately and on time. The role also involves identifying and recommending process improvements that can reduce workloads or enhance quality. Maintaining the internal control system for investment accounting to ensure compliance with SOX regulations is a key responsibility, along with recommending enhancements as necessary. The specialist will stay informed about current and emerging developments in their area of responsibility, assessing impacts and collaborating with management to incorporate new trends into current and future solutions. The role also includes preparing and communicating concise technical financial documents and presentations for a diverse audience, as well as preparing financial footnote information for SEC, GAAP, and statutory reporting. The specialist will support the preparation of industry and governmental surveys and provide accounting information on fixed income and derivative investments, ensuring compliance with accounting and reporting regulations. Overall, this position plays a vital role in supporting the investment accounting function and ensuring the integrity of financial reporting for Lincoln Financial Group.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • 4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's).
  • Prior experience working in investment accounting or accounting systems.
  • Technical knowledge in investment accounting.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong relationship management skills with internal and external clients.
  • Ability to identify and recommend process improvements.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Successfully completes regulatory and job training requirements.
