About the position

The IT Specialist position at First Solar involves providing comprehensive support, operations, and maintenance services to various departments including R&D, manufacturing, and corporate systems. The role emphasizes customer service, technical expertise, and effective communication to resolve technical issues and ensure operational excellence. The specialist will engage in a variety of tasks including hardware and software support, network administration, and project management, while maintaining a high level of customer trust and satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support for VMware VDI Horizon software and deploy VDI instances as applicable.
  • Deploy and configure Teradici terminals for VDI in manufacturing and office environments if applicable.
  • Assist in resolving customer and support issues across company sites to enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Perform LAN Administration duties such as account administration and rights assignment.
  • Build and maintain server environments, both VMware and physical servers.
  • Monitor and maintain local file server backups and manage data retention according to policy.
  • Develop and execute operations and maintenance plans for enterprise and divisional support systems.
  • Document results of hazard and risk analysis activities and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Install or remove hardware and/or software, following installation instructions and tools provided.
  • Maintain accurate records of user requests and outcomes, contributing to the development of installation procedures and standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 3 years of experience in Information Technology, customer service, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to follow guidelines and assist others in interpreting policy.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to maintain customer trust.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with automated computer backup maintenance.
  • Knowledge of network support and process planning.
  • Familiarity with a broad range of network, server, storage, and desktop technologies.
