About the position

The Specialist II, Payroll position at Tailored Brands, Inc. is a critical role within the Payroll team, responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for up to 4,000 employees across various states. This hybrid position requires working onsite at the Houston corporate office one day per week, focusing on delivering exceptional customer service while adhering to company policies and processing deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Process weekly payroll for up to 4,000 employees located in various states.
  • Perform clerical payroll duties involved in the preparation and processing of payroll including entering data into the time entry and payroll systems, verifying the accuracy of data and computations, balancing payroll totals, and maintaining detailed records.
  • Review timesheets for accuracy and make necessary corrections in accordance with payroll processing procedures and company policy.
  • Print, seal, and distribute payroll checks and direct deposit advice statements.
  • Research and process final pay notices for retiring or terminated employees.
  • Compute wage and overtime payments in accordance with job pay rules and state pay laws.
  • Audit work for accuracy before finalizing calculated payroll.
  • Research and resolve payroll discrepancies/inquiries.
  • Act as the main contact for assigned client group(s), and respond to all pay-related inquiries using discretion and effective communication.
  • Administer pay card program including issuance of replacement cards, file processing, and answering related inquiries from employees.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Assist with answering general payroll inquiries received through the payroll helpline or general payroll email inbox.
  • Establish and maintain a quality working relationship with employees, agencies, and co-workers to promote a quality customer service image.
  • Ensure compliance with SOX requirements.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all payroll matters.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1+ years of payroll related experience required.
  • Understanding of payroll processing utilizing an in-house system.
  • Ability to understand basic payroll calculations and concepts.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft v 9.2 (Payroll for North America and Time & Labor modules) preferred.
  • Good math/accounting skills with a focus on attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to remain organized while managing multiple tasks with competing priorities, meeting deadlines, and paying strict attention to detail.
  • Experience processing high volume payroll is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to utilize sound judgment, discretion, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong organizational, follow up, project management, and process improvement skills.
  • FPC certification a plus.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
