About the position

The Specialist, Network Planning Engineer role at L3Harris involves supporting the FAA/FTI program by overseeing the installation and activation of FTI equipment and services. The position requires collaboration with internal and external teams, managing network maintenance events, and executing formal acceptance testing of products and services. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in telecommunications and network engineering, with a focus on customer coordination and project management.

Responsibilities

  • Execute and document formal acceptance testing of FTI products and services per program requirements.
  • Support supervision of FTI equipment and service order installation and activation.
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to implement scheduled network maintenance events.
  • Manage special projects supporting program requirements.
  • Test, troubleshoot, and validate communication circuits per IEEE, ITU, TIA, ISO and FTI specifications.
  • Execute a coordinated Maintenance Request (MR) activity to support Engineering changes per customer and program requirements.
  • Execute services disconnects throughout the established Network / CPE per customer and program request.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience, or a Graduate Degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience, or in lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
  • Intermediate level experience troubleshooting IP network configurations (CCNA certification or equivalent experience).
  • Knowledge of FTI Telecommunications equipment installation, configuration, and testing standards including TDM, PDH, SDH, SONET, and IP network architecture.
  • Domain knowledge of data protocols including TCP/IP, DMVPN, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, EIGRP, HSRP, IS-IS, LDP, PIM, MSDP, and Ethernet.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Project management skills capable of adhering to deadlines and completion of tasks per project schedule.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or equivalent of a 4-year accredited degree in a technical discipline.
  • MEF 2.0 certification and/or equivalent level experience preferred.
  • CCNA Certification or equivalent work experience preferred.
