About the position

Direct Digital Holdings is seeking a Payroll & Benefits Specialist to join our team in Houston, Texas. This full-time position is pivotal in administering the company's payroll and benefits programs, ensuring that all processes are executed accurately and in compliance with relevant laws and internal policies. The Specialist will be responsible for the timely processing of payroll, maintaining payroll records, and managing employee benefits, including health insurance and retirement plans. This role requires a detail-oriented individual who can effectively communicate with employees regarding their benefits and payroll inquiries, ensuring they understand the policies and processes in place. In this role, you will process payroll on a regular schedule, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and legal requirements. You will maintain payroll records, including earnings, deductions, taxes, and other relevant information. Additionally, you will administer employee benefits programs, support annual open enrollment, and assist employees with adding or removing dependents from plans. You will also oversee leave of absence programs and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment tax laws for our multi-state operations. The Payroll & Benefits Specialist will work closely with management to perform other tasks and assignments as needed, contributing to the overall success of the HR department and the company as a whole.

Responsibilities

  • Process payroll on a regular schedule, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Maintain payroll records, including earnings, deductions, taxes, and other relevant information.
  • Administer employee benefits programs, including support of annual open enrollment, adding and removing employees and dependents from plans, and answering benefit questions.
  • Assist employees and managers with understanding of policies and processes as it relates to payroll and benefits.
  • Administer leave of absence programs as required.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state and local employment tax laws for multi-state company.
  • Oversee retirement programs for various levels of employees.
  • Perform other tasks and assignments as needed and specified by management.

Requirements

  • At least four years of experience administering payroll and benefits programs.
  • A bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, or another related field is preferred.
  • Experience in a fast-paced technology company is preferred.
  • Understanding of relevant labor laws and regulations.
  • Strong analytical skills & problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organization, project management, and communication skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust, and to interpret and explain complex information to offer factual and informative guidance and advice.
  • Proficiency with ADP Workforce Now is preferred.
  • Advanced Excel skills along with experience using PowerPoint, Word, Teams meetings and webinars, and the ability to learn new software tools quickly.
