About the position

The System Specialist I, Payroll position is a hybrid role based in Federal Way, WA, primarily responsible for processing on-demand and biweekly payroll for the Enterprise. This role supports the functionality of timekeeping and Human Capital Management (HCM) applications, ensuring that payroll processes run smoothly and efficiently. The System Specialist will also provide problem resolution and support to Village Teammates, ensuring that any issues related to payroll systems are addressed promptly and effectively. In this position, the individual will be tasked with troubleshooting and resolving payroll-related ServiceNow tickets within established service level agreements. The role requires a strong focus on compliance with policies, procedures, and federal, state, and local laws as they pertain to timekeeping and payroll. Additionally, the System Specialist will assist in gathering requirements, testing, and validating updates to timekeeping and payroll configurations for production, ensuring that all systems are functioning optimally and securely. The position demands strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, as the individual will need to listen attentively and communicate information clearly and effectively to various stakeholders. Attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to follow through on tasks are essential for success in this role. The System Specialist will also be expected to process various payroll tasks on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis, contributing to the overall efficiency and accuracy of the payroll department.

Responsibilities

  • Process on demand and biweekly payroll runs for the Enterprise.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve all payroll systems related ServiceNow tickets within the established service level agreements.
  • Process daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly tasks.
  • Ensure proper use and access controls to the timekeeping and payroll applications.
  • Assist with gathering requirements, test and validate updates of timekeeping and payroll configurations for production.
  • Ensure compliance with policy, procedures, and federal, state and local laws as it pertains to timekeeping and payroll.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience with payroll systems, preferably Kronos and Workday.
  • Intermediate computer skills and proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook.
  • Working knowledge of general ledger accounting functions, specifically accounting strings.
  • Functional knowledge of payroll processes and procedures.
  • Multi-state payroll processing experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Demonstrated strengths in organizational, attention-to-detail, follow-through, analytical, reasoning, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC).
