About the position

The AC Portland Downtown is seeking a Part Time Payroll Specialist to join our team in serving guests with creativity and passion. This role is essential in ensuring the smooth operation of payroll processing activities, which include computing wage and overtime payments, calculating and recording payroll deductions, and working with vendors on wage garnishment implementation and multi-state payroll tax implementation. Although the duties typically follow established procedures, the Payroll Specialist may be required to make routine, minor corrections to documents to ensure they are acceptable for processing. This position operates under general supervision, allowing for a degree of independence in managing payroll tasks. As a Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for full cycle payroll processing, which encompasses entering data into the payroll system, ensuring all pay codes are accurate, pulling reports from the timekeeping system as necessary, preparing and reconciling payroll previews, and conducting extensive auditing of data entry, output, and tax. You will also be tasked with requesting appropriate approvals to finalize payroll, generating and saving reports utilized by the Hotel Restaurant Accounting Team, and processing earnings verifications as necessary. Ensuring payroll is delivered accurately and timely is a critical aspect of this role, as is maintaining the data integrity of the payroll system. Additionally, you will work with the Wage Attachment vendor to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of deductions, conduct year-end W2 reviews, and prepare business reports as requested, including EEO, SSA EVS reports, and reports for the US Bureau of Labor Statistics. You will also assist the team with any projects or duties to ensure customer satisfaction and achieve workflow deadlines, along with performing any other duties as assigned by management.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 4+ years of payroll experience processing for multiple EIN's and multi-state payrolls.
  • UltiPro experience preferred but not required.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word applications; advanced Excel preferred.
  • Excellent attention to detail and multi-tasking skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
