About the position

The Specialist, Payroll at PDS Health is responsible for supporting payroll processing for assigned offices or regions. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with significant knowledge of payroll administration, including compliance with state and federal regulations. The Specialist will ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, assist in problem resolution, and provide support to junior team members.

Responsibilities

  • Compile, track and enter payroll data into the payroll system such as hours worked, vacation, personal and holiday hours, taxes and union dues to be withheld.
  • Follow established procedures to accurately process semi-monthly payroll for their assigned offices or regions.
  • Process child support, wage garnishments and terminations.
  • Review wages computed, audit timekeeping records and correct any errors to ensure accuracy of payroll.
  • Audit new hires on payroll master records for multi-state companies.
  • Record data concerning transfer of employees between departments, rate changes, address changes and direct deposit.
  • Support the employee maintenance in the system, including compensation updates and employee status changes and other changes as needed.
  • Prepare and issue any manual checks as necessary.
  • Process, review and audit automated standard reports to verify accuracy and correct any out of balance transactions as necessary.
  • Facilitate audit requests, prepare special reports and/or work on special projects as assigned by management.
  • Mentor, train and provide support to junior team members on issues and questions concerning payroll related topics.
  • Resolve payroll questions and issues from the region or national support staff by collecting and analyzing information and works with the appropriate channels to resolve timely and accurately.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of processing Payroll in a large multi-state, multi-location environment.
  • Associate's Degree or higher in related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience in UltiPro Payroll software, Workday Payroll or similar systems experience.
  • Knowledge of IRS and various state regulations regarding payroll and accounting reconciliations/auditing techniques.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Human Resources or related field.
  • Fundamental Payroll Professional (FPP) designation preferred.
