The Special Programs PEIMS Specialist at Midland Independent School District plays a crucial role in managing and maintaining the data related to special education programs. This position is non-exempt and requires a high school diploma or GED, along with 2-3 years of experience in an office or clerical environment. The specialist will be responsible for clerical and administrative duties associated with the Special Education Management System, working under the supervision of the Executive Director of Special Services. The role involves routine tasks that are essential for the accurate reporting and management of PEIMS data related to special programs. The specialist will coordinate and reconcile various funding reports, including the Fall/Spring PEIMS report for related services, federal reports for Special Education membership snapshots, and attendance reports. They will also be responsible for operating and maintaining special education records within the ITCC automation management system, ensuring that all student information is accurately keyed in, updated, and corrected as necessary for funding and reporting purposes. This position requires excellent communication skills, as the specialist will need to examine and verify services rendered to special program students, check documentation, and make necessary adjustments. In addition to data management, the specialist will generate monthly student printouts for verification and correction, collect verification documents for audits, and maintain revisions on all Special Program forms as required by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and the State Board of Education (SBOE). The role also includes assisting campus secretaries in correcting errors on reports and processing new student records, which involves requesting transcripts and updating student information. The specialist will provide basic training to clerical staff regarding student records and audit procedures, ensuring compliance with department policies.
