About the position

ECU Health Medical Center is seeking a dedicated Specialist Pharmacy Technician I to join our pharmacy department. As a vital part of our team, Pharmacy Technicians play a crucial role in supporting the mission, vision, and core values of ECU Health. This position involves not only foundational dispensing activities but also the compounding of both hazardous and non-hazardous sterile products. The Specialist Pharmacy Technician I will be responsible for ensuring clear communication, managing medication distribution, and maintaining pharmacy inventory. This role is essential in providing high-quality pharmaceutical care to our patients and supporting the overall operations of the pharmacy department. The Specialist Pharmacy Technician I will engage in various responsibilities, including the compounding of sterile products, basic pharmacy inventory management, and the management of medication use technology. Additionally, the technician will monitor and route medication requests to the appropriate personnel, ensuring that all medication needs are met efficiently and accurately. Specific entities within the pharmacy may require proficiency in advanced-level roles, and the technician may be assigned other duties as needed, such as the compounding of non-sterile products. This position is part-time and does not have a specified shift, allowing for flexibility in scheduling. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • High School or Equivalent (GED) or higher
  • 1 year of related experience
  • Must be registered with the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy within 30 days of hire

Nice-to-haves

  • Associate in Applied Science (AAS) Degree - Pharmacy Technology
  • 1 year of experience in hospital or retail pharmacy setting
  • Certification through National Pharmacy Technician Association - CPhT
