About the position

This position is responsible for maintaining strategic alliances and partnerships within the Purchasing organization, focusing on negotiations, price analysis, and order justifications. The role aims to streamline the order fulfillment process, ensuring supplier quality and delivery meet performance metrics while adhering to corporate policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain strategic alliances and partnerships established by the Purchasing organization.
  • Perform negotiations, price analysis, and order justifications.
  • Streamline the order fulfillment process to ensure supplier quality and delivery meet performance metrics.
  • Conduct conference calls and establish strong communication with assigned vendors.
  • Understand and apply the Company 'Terms and Conditions', especially the 'Specification and Requirements' portion.
  • Escalate issues to management and recommend appropriate actions.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate and L3Harris policies and procedures, including signature authority.
  • Assist in performing capabilities and risk assessments of suppliers.
  • Procure and manage assigned commodities to enable L3 Harris production, including purchase order issuance and maintenance.
  • Create PO packages with all required documentation, such as Price Analysis and Justification Worksheet.
  • Lead supplier negotiations and the supplier selection process.
  • Identify and implement cost reduction opportunities and manage overall material cost control.
  • Manage supplier relationships and assist in developing supplier base strategies.
  • Resolve supplier base problems, including negotiations on Non-Conformances and invoicing discrepancies.
  • Assist with Marketing requests by running Price Models to determine material costs for proposed projects.
  • Control and manage inventory integrity of purchased items in the MRP database.
  • Provide guidance on key events in selected commodities that may affect business plans.
  • Seek out new suppliers and processes, keeping the company informed of developments.
  • Maintain documentation control in compliance with FAR regulations and company policies.
  • Implement strategic goals established by leadership and manage assigned projects.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience, or a Graduate Degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience, or in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
  • 2 or more years of experience in purchasing in an MRP (ERP) driven manufacturing environment.
  • Negotiation experience.
  • Contract experience, including knowledge of terms and conditions and other agreement-related experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Understanding and working knowledge of engineering documentation and product configuration.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a digital/remote environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in government / FAR buying environment is strongly preferred.
  • APICS CPIM or CSCP certification preferred.
