About the position

The Specialist, Software Engineer will play a crucial role in planning and coordinating activities related to the design, development, and implementation of client information systems and software applications. This position involves maintaining and upgrading existing systems while collaborating with the Application Development Lead to address design and deployment issues. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential for interacting with customers and users in a dynamic work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and coordinating activities related to requirements gathering, design, development, and implementation of client information systems and software applications.
  • Maintain, support, and upgrade existing client systems and applications.
  • Work with the team to develop new autonomous behaviors.
  • Integrate new vehicle sensors.
  • Support existing vehicle software and current vehicle sensor software.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related engineering degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience, or a Graduate Degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience, or in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
  • 4+ years direct experience in software development and/or programming design and systems management.
  • 4+ years of experience with C#, C++, C.
  • Experience in all phases of the software development life-cycle.
  • Strong understanding of various communications protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, RS232.
  • Highly proficient in C# development.
  • Strong knowledge of version control (Git or Visual Team Services).
  • Experience with design patterns and/or SOLID principles.
  • Experience with multi-threaded programming & design.
  • Strong ability to grasp and apply new information quickly.
  • High attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills, ability to multi-task, and an enthusiastic attitude.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Robotic systems.
  • Experience with autonomous underwater vehicle sensor payloads (such as Doppler velocity logs, Sidescan sonar, Multibeam and Internal navigation systems).
  • Experience with hydrographic survey planning software.
