About the position

The Specialist, Technical Support Engineer (COMSAT Analyst / Planner) role at L3Harris involves providing operations and planning support services to the Commercial Satellite Communications (COMSATCOM) sector. This position is critical for managing global COMSATCOM communications systems, ensuring effective support for military and commercial satellite operations. The role requires a strong technical background in satellite communications, operational management, and the ability to perform technical analysis and constellation monitoring.

Responsibilities

  • Provide planning, definition, implementation, and operational management of global COMSATCOM communications systems.
  • Manage transmissions for all Commercial frequency spectrums and SATCOM systems.
  • Assist with the development, implementation, testing, planning, and management of SATCOM systems.
  • Support SATCOM Operational Manager and Consolidated SATCOM Systems Expert functions.
  • Perform technical analysis to support DOD COMSATCOM operations and planning.
  • Coordinate with CCMDs and other SATCOM users for resource availability and optimization.
  • Monitor COMSATCOM constellation health and welfare, including anomaly resolution and EMI support.
  • Advise on revising plans and documentation for future COMSATCOM requirements.
  • Maintain content on the CFSCC SPACE SATCOM website and planning tools.

Requirements

  • Active Top-Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility.
  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 4 years of relevant experience, or a Graduate Degree with 2 years of experience, or 8 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • One year of relevant experience or education in communication principles and SATCOM theory.
  • Three years of operational experience with Commercial or Military SATCOM systems.
  • Knowledge of intelligence capabilities and tasking mechanisms for SATCOM interference.

Nice-to-haves

  • One year of experience with SATCOM apportionment planning and allocation processes.
  • Military experience or working in a military environment is desired.
  • Experience with DoD Teleports and Gateways, Service Teleports and Gateways, and Commercial Teleports and Gateways.
  • Familiarity with Joint SATCOM Management and Planning Systems.
