About the position

The Specialist, TRIO & Special Projects, plays a crucial role in providing customer service to TRIO program participants and stakeholders. This position involves assisting students and their families through various communication channels, facilitating the delivery of information and services, and supporting special projects within the TRIO department. The role requires interaction with students, parents, and school partners, ensuring a respectful and inclusive environment while managing administrative tasks related to TRIO programs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to TRIO program participants and stakeholders in person, by phone, email, and virtual appointments.
  • Communicate with leadership of TRIO programs and other student services to ensure consistent delivery of information and services.
  • Gather information from students to evaluate individual circumstances and make appropriate referrals.
  • Interpret policies, procedures, and guidelines to determine the best course of action for students.
  • Assist TRIO Director and Program Managers in planning and preparing for special events and initiatives.
  • Conduct workshops and explain TRIO programs to support ongoing student needs.
  • Resolve customer complaints and problems related to TRIO programs.
  • Facilitate engaging presentations and provide guidance on department and campus processes.
  • Perform various administrative, clerical, and recordkeeping functions in support of TRIO programs.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student records and ensure proper handling of documents.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Three (3) years of clerical experience
  • State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to gain access to work site(s).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with databases is preferred.
