About the position

The Specialty Account Specialist role at GSK focuses on providing scientific knowledge and customer engagement expertise to specialist customers in support of GSK's biologic products. This position is crucial for understanding the reimbursement and distribution landscape, developing strategies to generate sales, and maintaining strong relationships with various stakeholders. The role is based in Eastern Iowa, covering key cities such as Iowa City, Davenport, and Cedar Rapids, and involves significant interaction with healthcare professionals in the respiratory field.

Responsibilities

  • Provide scientific knowledge and customer engagement expertise to specialist customers.
  • Understand the reimbursement/distribution landscape for specialist customers and identify appropriate resources.
  • Maintain knowledge of severe asthma therapeutic expertise and related data.
  • Provide product educational programs and in-services to customers.
  • Work within compliance guidelines and GSK values.
  • Develop strategies and tactics to generate sales.
  • Implement customer-specific strategies for accounts such as Allergists and Pulmonologists.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with Marketing, Payer Relations Managers, and Medical functions.
  • Effectively manage allocated resources and provide outstanding customer service.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years of pharmaceutical/medical device sales experience for Specialty Account Specialist (grade 8)
  • 15+ years of pharmaceutical/medical device sales experience for Senior Specialty Account Specialist (grade 7)
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel domestically, including overnight travel up to 30%.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Specialty Products that utilize the Buy & Bill or Specialty pharmacy modes of distribution.
  • Expertise in working with Payer Reimbursement Managers.
  • Biologic/Rare Disease/Respiratory Sales experience.
  • Cross-functional matrix collaboration experience.
  • Demonstrated consistent performance over time.
