About the position

The Specialty Care Transport Nurse is responsible for providing high-quality care to high-priority, high-acuity patients during transport via ambulance. This role involves responding to emergency and non-emergency transport calls, ensuring patient safety and comfort, and collaborating with medical facility staff. The position offers full-time, part-time, and on-call opportunities, requiring flexibility in scheduling and the ability to respond quickly to transport requests.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to pre-scheduled, time-sensitive, and/or emergency transport calls efficiently and professionally.
  • Provide a high standard of patient care in both emergent and non-emergent settings.
  • Determine the nature and extent of illness or injury and establish priority for required care.
  • Render appropriate medical or trauma care to adults, children, and infants based on assessment findings.
  • Constantly assess the patient en-route to the emergency facility and administer additional care as indicated or directed by medical control.
  • Assist in lifting and carrying the patient out of the ambulance and into the receiving medical facility.
  • Report verbally and in writing observations and emergency medical care of the patient at the emergency scene and in transit to the receiving medical facility staff.
  • Complete electronic patient care records in a timely and complete fashion.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey (LPN not acceptable).
  • Current ACLS, BLS, & PALS certifications.
  • IV Certified.
  • One (1) year of experience within a critical care (ICU/CCU or ER) environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Patient observation.
  • Current driver's license.
  • PALS Certification (Preferred).
  • IV Certification (Preferred).
