About the position

The Specialty Court Clinician is responsible for providing comprehensive mental health services to adults in the McHenry County Specialty Courts. This role involves assessment, diagnostic evaluation, individual and group therapy, and case management, aimed at supporting clients with behavioral health treatment needs. The clinician will work closely with various stakeholders, including probation and community providers, to develop and implement effective treatment plans.

Responsibilities

  • Engage and support clients with histories of non-compliance with behavioral health treatment recommendations.
  • Provide comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments for Mental Health and Drug Court programs.
  • Consult with probation, court, and community provider staff as needed.
  • Develop a plan of care with client input to address identified treatment needs and functional deficits.
  • Provide individual and group therapy services.
  • Implement treatment plans by linking participants to addiction, mental health, social, vocational, educational, and other community resources.
  • Maintain clear, concise, and timely records of client progress and movement within the court and service providers system.
  • Assist in the collection of data required by the court and behavioral health systems.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with referral sources and other community agencies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Clinical Psychology or Social Work.
  • 3 years of experience as a Therapist.
  • Crisis experience.
  • Current capability and judgment to provide competent and appropriate care to all assigned clients consistent with community standards.
  • Ability to assess and provide assistance for clients in areas such as depression, anxiety, acute adult mental illness, interpersonal conflicts, and addiction and dual disorders.
  • Knowledge of agency-based, community, and other behavioral mental health, substance abuse, and social service resources.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certified Alcohol Drug Counselor (CADC) preferred.
