About the position

The Specialty Implementation Manager at Optum is responsible for managing ongoing contract relationships and service delivery to clients, particularly for Specialty implementation for Optum Rx. This role involves direct client contact, building relationships with employer/group clients, and coordinating with internal functions to implement client systems and address service needs. The position requires a focus on relationship and service management rather than sales, with an emphasis on improving health outcomes through effective client management.

Responsibilities

  • Manages Specialty implementation for Optum Rx direct and coalition external commercial clients including TPAs and Health Plan new groups.
  • Acts as outward-facing resource for assigned accounts, typically with direct client contact.
  • Builds relationships with clients and serves as the primary point of contact for overall service delivery.
  • Represents client internally and coordinates with other functions to implement client systems and complete projects.
  • Analyzes reports to determine client trends and implements appropriate programs.
  • Monitors new patient transition to Optum Specialty Pharmacy during the first 30 days after Go Live date.
  • Transitions client to account management for ongoing service once implementation is complete.
  • Participates on Implementation Improvement teams and may be responsible for improvement project execution.
  • Assesses and interprets customer needs and requirements, identifying solutions to non-standard requests and problems.
  • Coaches, provides feedback, and guides others.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of Pharmacy Benefit Management or Healthcare Account Management experience.
  • 1+ years Project Management experience (implementation).
  • 1+ years working in a client management or client implementation role.
  • 1+ years of experience presenting to clients.
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
