About the position

The Specialty Clinic Nurse Manager at the Eastern Colorado VA Healthcare System is responsible for overseeing the 24/7 operations of assigned units, ensuring high-quality patient care, and managing staff performance. This role involves directing orientation, training, and development of nursing staff while promoting a culture of accountability and collaboration across the care continuum. The Nurse Manager also contributes to the development of care delivery models and ensures compliance with regulatory standards, aligning nursing objectives with organizational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the provision of nursing care to patients with complex care needs utilizing the nursing process in alignment with ANA Standards of Nursing Practice.
  • Contribute to the development of care delivery models and environmental design, ensuring evidence-based, accessible, affordable, and equitable patient care.
  • Maintain knowledge and ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards, Directives, policies, and standard operating procedures (SOP).
  • Contribute professional nursing perspective in discussions with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Support colleagues through knowledge sharing to provide safe, quality nursing care.
  • Improve Veteran/patient driven care by resolving experience issues such as coordination of care, timeliness or process issues, and common themes of dissatisfaction.
  • Serve as an advocate for patients, families, and caregivers, improving outcomes for the immediate practice setting.
  • Demonstrate the ability to improve the effectiveness of communications and interactions with others.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens.
  • Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate accrediting agency.
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth of the United States.
  • Proficiency in basic written and spoken English.
