About the position

The Specialty Sales Team Leader at Target is responsible for leading a team of specialized consultants to enhance guest experiences through effective operations and compelling visual merchandising. This role emphasizes building a guest-first culture, managing sales goals, and developing team members' skills in various departments such as Apparel and Accessories, Home, Baby, Beauty, and Electronics. The position requires a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion while ensuring that the sales floor is well-organized and inviting for guests.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a service culture that prioritizes the guest service experience.
  • Model, train and coach team member expectations to deliver on our GUEST service model culture.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development and modeling inclusive behaviors.
  • Understand sales goals, plan daily/weekly workload, and execute to deliver on department and store sales goals.
  • Lead and demonstrate a culture of executing all best practices as outlined with team onboarding and learning.
  • Develop, coach, and lead a team of consultants knowledgeable about various departments.
  • Encourage team to use tools available in their department to enhance guest experience.
  • Partner with third party vendors to ensure brand standards and merchandising are met.
  • Support team's execution of revisions, sales plans, and Visual Merchandising Guide for defined categories.
  • Evaluate candidates for open positions and develop a guest-centric team.
  • Support team onboarding and help close product knowledge and skill gaps through development and coaching.
  • Ensure fitting rooms are welcoming, clean, and safe.
  • Support ETL in establishing clear goals and expectations and hold team members accountable.
  • Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance.
  • Address store needs such as emergency and regulatory visits.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • Previous retail experience preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners and other technology equipment as directed.
  • Work independently and as part of a team.
  • Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently.
  • Welcoming and helpful attitude.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment.
