About the position

The Python Data Engineer position is a critical role within the Specialty Software Engineering team, focusing on complex initiatives that have a broad impact and require large-scale planning. The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing and analyzing intricate, multi-faceted challenges in Specialty Software Engineering, necessitating a deep evaluation of various factors, including both tangible and intangible elements. This role demands a solid understanding of the function, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements to effectively meet deliverables and contribute to the resolution of complex situations. In this position, the Data Engineer will strategically collaborate and consult with client personnel, ensuring that all engineering solutions align with the overarching goals of the organization. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to navigate through unprecedented factors that may arise during project execution. The candidate will be expected to leverage their extensive experience in data engineering to build and maintain efficient and scalable data processing frameworks, utilizing tools such as PySpark and Apache Airflow for workflow orchestration. This is a contract position based in Westlake, TX, with a hybrid work model, allowing for a blend of in-office and remote work. The duration of the contract is 12 months, with the possibility of extension based on project needs and performance. Candidates must be W2 employees, and the pay range for this role is between $75 and $80 per hour.

Responsibilities

  • Consult on complex initiatives with broad impact and large-scale planning for Specialty Software Engineering.
  • Review and analyze complex multi-faceted, larger scale, or longer-term Specialty Software Engineering challenges.
  • Contribute to the resolution of complex and multi-faceted situations requiring solid understanding of the function, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
  • Strategically collaborate and consult with client personnel.

Requirements

  • 5 plus years of Specialty Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work or consulting experience, training, military experience, or education.
  • 7 plus years of experience as a Data Engineer.
  • 5 plus years of hands-on experience building data processing frameworks.
  • 5 plus years of hands-on experience with developing and maintaining efficient and scalable data pipelines leveraging PySpark and workflow orchestration tools.
  • 1 plus years experience in using Apache Airflow for workflow orchestration.
  • 5 plus years of Python programming experience.
  • Experience with SQL and database management systems.
  • Experience with Linux.
