About the position
The Specialty Tax Services Intern in the Business Incentives Group at BDO offers a unique opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in a leading national consulting practice. The intern will assist in helping companies and individuals identify and claim government incentives aimed at promoting innovation and economic growth, such as the R&D Tax Credit. This role emphasizes collaboration with BDO professionals and clients to enhance strategies and processes while developing essential skills in professional services.
Responsibilities
- Assists in the execution of multiple client engagements
- Collaborates with other STS BIG professionals in innovating and developing better strategies and processes
- Establishes effective working relationships with STS BIG professionals and other BDO employees
- Contributes to the development of STS BIG's technical acumen
- Assists in business development research and identification of opportunities for clients
- Contributes to and enhances the culture of STS BIG and BDO as a leading professional services firm
- Performs other duties as required
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program, preferably in Accounting, Finance, Computer Science, Engineering, Data Analytics, Communications, or Law
- Leadership experience is preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Word
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical and basic research skills
- Solid organizational skills with a focus on meeting project deadlines
- Ability to multi-task and work independently or in a group environment
- Desire to understand tasks and seek learning opportunities
- Demonstrated interest in self-study to develop technical competency
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in tax, accounting, or finance is a plus
- Familiarity with R&D tax credits and incentives
