About the position

The Specification Representative at Rugby Architectural Building Products is responsible for promoting and creating demand for decorative surfaces among architects and interior designers in both commercial and residential markets. This role aims to drive increased product specifications and sales growth through relationship building, presentations, and market research.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and present decorative surfaces to architects, designers, contractors, and other industry professionals.
  • Serve as a product resource and project support for decorative surfaces to the architecture and design community.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers in the design and architecture communities to generate product specifications and drive sales growth.
  • Collaborate with architects, designers, and specifiers to identify project requirements and provide tailored solutions using the full product line.
  • Create and deliver compelling presentations and technical demonstrations to educate customers about the features, benefits, and applications of products.
  • Attend local or regional industry trade shows and participate in networking events to build brand awareness and expand the customer base.
  • Conduct market research, staying up-to-date with industry trends, competitor activities, and market developments.
  • Gather customer feedback and market intelligence to identify opportunities for product improvement or expansion, providing insights and recommendations to management.
  • Communicate and work directly with the outside sales team to ensure specifications translate to orders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or experience in architecture, interior design, construction management, or related fields.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver compelling presentations and technical demonstrations.
  • Self-motivated and driven to achieve business objectives.
  • Willingness to travel regularly for customer visits, trade shows, and industry events.
