About The Position

Parsons is seeking a Specification Writer to support the production of specifications and coordinate their integration into construction documents within the DC metro area. This role involves developing and maintaining standard specifications, preparing technical documents, and conducting technical reviews, all while collaborating with various departments. The position is ideal for candidates with a background in engineering or architecture and a passion for contributing to critical infrastructure projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in preparing technical specifications and documents.
• Familiarity with MasterSpec 49 Division specifications format.
• Ability to work collaboratively across departments within a transit authority.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (entire suite).
• Ability to write clearly and professionally.
• Ability to produce communications quickly, efficiently, and to a high standard.
• General knowledge of rail transit agencies' design, construction, contracts, and operations processes.

Responsibilities

• Develop, revise, and maintain standard specifications, including Division 1.
• Develop technical documents to support design, construction, contracts, and operations processes for capital and non-capital rail transit projects.
• Develop and revise solicitation documents, including Statements of Work, Requests for Information, and Requests for Bids/Proposals.
• Prepare policy and procedure documentation.
• Maintain the most up-to-date versions of technical standards in an orderly manner.
• Conduct timely technical reviews of draft documents.
