About the position

The Specification Writer at Parsons will play a crucial role in supporting the production of specifications and coordinating their integration into construction documents, particularly for capital and non-capital rail transit projects in the DC metro area. This position requires a collaborative approach and a strong background in technical writing and specifications development.

Responsibilities

• Develop, revise, and maintain standard specifications, including Division 1.
• Develop technical documents to support design, construction, contracts, and operations processes for capital and non-capital rail transit projects.
• Develop and revise solicitation documents, including Statements of Work, Requests for Information, and Requests for Bids/Proposals.
• Prepare policy and procedure documentation.
• Maintain the most up-to-date versions of technical standards in an orderly manner.
• Conduct timely technical reviews of draft documents.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in preparing technical specifications and documents.
• Familiarity with MasterSpec 49 Division specifications format.
• Ability to work collaboratively across departments within a transit authority.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (entire suite).
• Ability to write clearly and professionally.
• Ability to produce communications quickly, efficiently, and to a high standard.
• General knowledge of rail transit agencies' design, construction, contracts, and operations processes.
