About the position
The SPS+ Architects team is looking for an Architectural Specifications Content Writer/Editor to develop and maintain architectural specifications for various project types. This role involves translating architectural drawings into written instructions for product procurement and installation, requiring a blend of architectural training, construction product knowledge, and strong writing skills. The position emphasizes collaboration with architects, designers, engineers, and construction teams to ensure clarity and compliance in project specifications, while also aligning with sustainability goals and LEED certification requirements.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain architectural specifications for various project types, ensuring clarity and accuracy.
- Collaborate with architects, designers, engineers, and construction teams to integrate material selections and technical requirements into project specs.
- Review construction documents for compliance with codes, standards, and project requirements.
- Coordinate with vendors and manufacturers to ensure up-to-date product and material information.
- Assist in managing project deliverables to meet schedules and milestones.
- Conduct product research and stay current with industry trends, materials, and technologies.
- Ensure project specs align with sustainability goals and LEED certification requirements when applicable.
Requirements
- 3+ years' experience writing commercial architectural specifications
- Knowledge of construction processes, materials, and building codes
- Proficiency in software tools like MasterSpec and Bluebeam
- Strong attention to detail and excellent written communication skills
- Familiarity with sustainable design practices (LEED accreditation is a plus)
