About the position

Mead & Hunt, a nationally recognized architectural and engineering firm, is seeking a full-time Specifications Writer to support their growth. The role involves creating project manuals for vertical construction projects, writing specifications, and coordinating interdisciplinary efforts. The successful candidate will also engage in product research and mentoring staff, contributing to the overall quality and efficiency of project documentation.

Responsibilities

• Create project manuals for vertical construction projects.
• Prepare and assist with writing specifications for Divisions 00-14.
• Coordinate interdisciplinary efforts for the entire project manual.
• Assist with product research, evaluations, and selection.
• Develop and update master specifications.
• Provide leadership for formatting specifications across disciplines.
• Participate in educational opportunities related to building products, materials, technologies, and standards.
• Mentor staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree (or higher) in construction management, architecture, or engineering.
• At least eight years of relevant experience.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience leading the specification writing process for Divisions 00-14 while meeting schedules and quality expectations.
• Knowledge of current products, materials, and standards including those specified in Divisions 03-14, ICC Codes, and Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC's).
• Experience with specifications software: MasterSpec, SpecsIntact, BDS SpecLink.
• Professional licensure as an architect or engineer.
• LEED AP, WELL Accredited Professional, or Guiding Principles Compliance Professional.
• Experience developing and maintaining master specifications for vertical construction projects.
