About the position

The SPED One-to-One Teacher Assistant at Carlisle-Foster's Grove Elementary School provides essential support to teachers and students in a special education setting. This role involves assisting with classroom instruction, managing student activities, and performing clerical tasks to ensure a conducive learning environment. The assistant will work closely with students requiring individualized attention, helping them with both academic and physical needs.

Responsibilities

• Provides classroom teaching assistance such as reinforcing skills and monitoring in-school-suspension classrooms.
• Assists teachers with academic instruction and classroom activities, preparing and disseminating materials.
• Sets up the classroom for special activities and prepares materials as assigned.
• Provides physical assistance to students, including toileting and mobility support.
• Arranges field trips and related educational activities, accompanying classes as required.
• Performs clerical support tasks such as light typing, data entry, and routine filing.
• Types, completes, and files various records and forms.
• Collects incoming monies for school activities and prepares receipts.
• Performs miscellaneous duties such as distributing materials and scheduling appointments.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of college education.
• Knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
• Working knowledge of departmental policies and modern office equipment.
• General knowledge of clerical functions such as typing, filing, and sorting.
• Knowledge in the application of classroom instruction and teaching.
