About the position

The SPED Teacher M/S position at Health Advocates Network involves working with students who have moderate to severe disabilities in a specialized educational setting. The role focuses on developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and providing specialized instruction to meet the unique needs of each student. The teacher will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to create a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment that promotes both social-emotional growth and academic achievement.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with moderate to severe disabilities.
  • Provide specialized instruction and support to meet the unique needs of each student.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and behavior specialists, to address student needs.
  • Create a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment that promotes social-emotional growth and academic achievement.
  • Use evidence-based practices and assistive technology to support student learning and independence.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments and data collection to track student progress and inform instructional decisions.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of student performance and behavior.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • California teaching credential in Special Education with a Moderate/Severe Disabilities authorization.
  • Experience working with students with moderate to severe disabilities in a special education setting.
  • Knowledge of best practices in special education, including behavior management and communication strategies.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Commitment to creating a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment for students with disabilities.
