About the position

Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of top-rated Arizona public charter schools dedicated to providing an advanced curriculum that prepares students to become tomorrow's global visionaries. We are seeking a passionate and culturally aware Special Education Teacher who is committed to making a difference in the lives of children, particularly those who may not otherwise have access to high-quality education. This role is essential in inspiring students to set high standards for their academic and behavioral success. As a member of our academic team, you will be part of a community that values continuous instructional improvement and the implementation of proven methods to advance student learning. In this position, you will utilize AMS curriculum standards to teach students at various grade levels through a differentiated approach. You will be responsible for attending weekly professional development sessions and collaborating with your grade-level team and professional learning communities. Effective communication with parents is crucial, as you will lead parent-student-teacher meetings to facilitate progress both in and outside of the classroom. You will also coordinate with administrators and other staff members to create an environment that meets students' academic and behavioral needs. Tracking student performance using measurable data is a key responsibility, as you will enrich their progress with visible results. You will contribute to the improvement of practices and procedures within our network, supported by our commitment to building upon our successes. Additionally, you will implement Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and preventative intervention strategies to guide students in developing the social and emotional skills necessary for navigating their educational journeys.

Responsibilities

  • Use AMS curriculum standards to teach students above and below grade-level through a differentiated approach
  • Attend weekly professional development and meetings with grade level team/professional learning communities
  • Communicate with parents and lead parent-student-teacher meetings to facilitate progress in and outside of the classroom
  • Coordinate with administrators and other staff members to create an environment focused on meeting students' academic and behavioral needs
  • Use measurable data to track student performance and enrich their progress with visible results
  • Contribute to the improvement of practices and procedures that will build upon our success
  • Use PBIS and preventative intervention strategies to guide student progress in developing social and emotional skills that will help them navigate a path to higher learning

Requirements

  • Data-driven teaching approach
