About the position

The California Virtual Academies (a network of 9 public charter schools) delivers online/virtual home based instruction to TK-12 students in California. While our schools do offer some scheduling flexibility, students are required to complete approximately 4-6 hours of coursework daily and log attendance. K12, inc. is our curriculum provider. The Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) will assist the Speech Language Pathologist in providing treatment to students in individual or group settings, targeting all domains of communication, including, but not limited to, articulation/phonology, motor speech disorders, voice, fluency, expressive language, receptive language/language comprehension, and social pragmatic language. The SLPA may also work with students who are non-speaking/not proficient verbal speakers, who utilize Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) to support expressive communication. The SLPA is responsible for documenting student progress by maintaining accurate case logs of therapy sessions and assisting in progress monitoring. The SLPA is responsible for collaborating with their supervising SLP to support in the development of their students' Individualized Education Plans (IEP) by providing accurate data and goal progress. The SLPA may support classroom teachers and staff by providing interventions to facilitate effective communication in the student's learning environment. The SLPA may also assist in maintaining records, managing speech therapy materials, equipment, and resources, and preparing resources for parents to support carry-over and generalization of learned skills. The SLPA will support their supervising SLP by scheduling speech therapy sessions and maintaining a schedule.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Permanent California Residence (Must currently reside in 1 of the 42 California counties we service/hire in).
  • Speech-Language Pathology Assistant License issued by the Speech-Language Pathology, Audiology and Hearing Aid Dispensers Board.
