About the position
The Speech-Language Pathologist Outpatient (SLP) at the Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating communication, cognitive, and swallowing disorders in patients aged 15 and older. This role involves developing patient-centered treatment plans based on comprehensive evaluations and ensuring compliance with medical necessity and evidence-based practices. The SLP will work with both inpatient and outpatient populations, providing high-quality rehabilitation services in a nationally recognized facility.
Responsibilities
- Administers SLP evaluations to inpatients and outpatients and determines appropriate treatment programs and/or equipment needs.
- Provides comprehensive and accurate assessment for adults with speech, language, cognitive, voice, swallowing, and hearing impairment.
- Develops a patient-centered treatment plan for rehabilitation patients based on evaluation, patient goals, and age-related issues.
- Ensures the treatment plan supports medical necessity and incorporates evidence-based treatments and outcome measures.
- Revises/updates the treatment plan as necessary and communicates it to appropriate team members.
- Completes documentation in compliance with department and regulatory timelines to ensure a complete medical record.
- Charges appropriately for services provided and documents outcome measures.
- Provides clinical supervision to techs and students according to state/federal regulations and hospital guidelines.
Requirements
- Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited college or university.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech, Language and Hearing Association.
- Speech-Language Pathologist IN state license.
- Current CPR certification in accordance with AHA standards or ability to obtain within 4 weeks of start date.
- One (1) year of clinical experience in rehabilitation preferred, but Clinical Fellowship Year candidates will be considered.
