About the position

The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) at Corewell Health is an independent healthcare professional responsible for assessing and treating a variety of speech and language disorders in both children and adults. This role involves evaluating referred patients, setting patient and family-centered goals, and developing treatment plans aimed at maximizing patient independence. The SLP also engages in performance improvement and educational opportunities to foster departmental and professional growth.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate referred patients for speech, language, and swallowing disorders.
  • Establish patient and family-centered goals for treatment.
  • Develop and execute individualized treatment plans.
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives within the department.
  • Engage in educational opportunities to promote professional development.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (ASHA) or Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY).
  • Licensure in Speech Pathology in Michigan or temporary license during CFY.
  • Experience in evaluating and treating neurological speech and language disorders.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with head and neck cancer and tracheostomies.
  • Familiarity with cognitive communication disorders, TBI, and dementia.
  • Experience conducting modified barium swallow studies.
