The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) position focuses on providing speech therapy and rehabilitation services to patients in an acute rehabilitation setting. The role is designed for a skilled professional who is dedicated to helping patients improve their communication and swallowing abilities, ensuring they achieve optimal outcomes based on their individual circumstances.
Responsibilities
- Assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders.
- Recognize indications and contradictions to treatment, modify treatment programs, and be familiar with normal and abnormal patient responses.
- Instruct patient/family as needed, adapt conventional speech therapy techniques to meet the needs of the patients.
- Document concisely, accurately, and legibly all appropriate charting and paperwork.
- Follow ASHA guidelines for ethical and high-quality job performance.
Requirements
- Experience as a Speech-Language Pathologist, particularly in an acute rehabilitation setting.
- Knowledge of speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders.
- Ability to modify treatment programs based on patient responses and needs.
- Strong documentation skills for patient charting and paperwork.
