About the position

As a Speech Language Pathologist in our school district, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the communication skills of our students. Your primary responsibility will be to evaluate students who exhibit speech and language difficulties, developing tailored intervention plans to address their specific needs. You will work closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to create a supportive environment that fosters student growth and development. Your expertise will not only help students improve their speech and language abilities but also boost their confidence and academic performance. In addition to conducting assessments and providing direct therapy, you will also be responsible for monitoring student progress and adjusting treatment plans as necessary. Collaboration with educational staff is essential, as you will provide guidance on how to implement strategies that support students in the classroom. You will also participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, contributing your insights to ensure that each student receives the appropriate support. Your role will extend beyond direct therapy; you will also engage in professional development activities to stay current with best practices in speech-language pathology. This may include attending workshops, conferences, and training sessions. You will be an advocate for your students, promoting awareness of speech and language disorders within the school community and providing resources for families to support their children's communication needs.

Requirements

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team of educators and specialists.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
  • Experience with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices.
  • Knowledge of current trends and research in speech-language pathology.
