About the position

The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) at Life Care Center of Athens provides direct rehabilitation care in speech therapy to patients based on physician referrals. This role involves assessing and modifying therapy goals, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and maintaining professional standards in a post-acute care setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct rehab care in speech therapy to patients upon physician referral.
• Establish, assess, and modify realistic, measurable, timely, and functional goals for patients.
• Oversee and evaluate care given by SLP Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) candidates (if applicable).
• Follow speech therapy treatment plans under the direction of the supervising SLP CCC (if applicable).
• Chart patient progress appropriately and in a timely manner.
• Utilize therapy software accurately for patient management.
• Exhibit excellent customer service and maintain a positive attitude towards patients.
• Assist in the evacuation of patients when necessary.
• Demonstrate dependable and regular attendance.
• Communicate effectively and function productively as part of an interdisciplinary team.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited program in speech therapy (minimum MS or MA SLP).
• ASHA certified (CCCs) or eligible for 9-month Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) to earn ASHA certification (CCCs).
• Currently registered/licensed in applicable State with an active license in good standing throughout employment.
• One (1) year experience in post-acute care or related setting preferred.
• CPR certification upon hire or obtain during orientation, must remain current during employment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email.

• Knowledge of laws, regulations, and guidelines governing functions in post-acute care facilities.
