About the position
The Speech Language Pathologist is responsible for providing comprehensive speech-language pathology services, including assessment, treatment planning, and therapeutic interventions. This role involves working collaboratively within a team to ensure high-quality patient care and adherence to professional standards. The incumbent will also engage in performance improvement activities and contribute to the overall productivity of the department.
Responsibilities
- Conduct initial assessments of patients.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessments.
- Provide age-appropriate therapeutic interventions to patients.
- Evaluate patient responses to treatment and adjust plans as necessary.
- Document patient care progress in the electronic medical record.
- Educate patients and families on tasks and resources for functional independence.
- Participate in discharge planning as part of the interdisciplinary team.
- Engage in department performance improvement activities and collect relevant data.
- Participate in safety activities and contribute to cost-effective care delivery.
- Participate in continuing education and professional development activities.
- Communicate professionally with patients, families, and team members.
- Maintain licenses and certifications as required.
Requirements
- Master's degree in speech-language pathology from an accredited program.
- Current Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA or eligibility for it.
- Current state license as applicable.
- Experience with adult and geriatric populations is desirable.
- Current BLS certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of orientation.
