About the position
The Speech Pathologist is responsible for screening, testing, evaluating, diagnosing, and treating disorders related to speech, language, cognitive communication, voice, and swallowing. This role also involves consulting, educating, and training patients and their caregivers, ensuring comprehensive care and support.
Responsibilities
- Carry out speech therapy evaluations, program planning, and treatments for hospital inpatients and outpatients.
- Work closely with the Physical Medicine Director to coordinate speech therapy activities with other hospital disciplines.
- Develop a program for department expansion, community and physician marketing, budget needs, and department administration.
- Work independently with limited contact with other Speech Language Pathologists.
Requirements
- Masters degree in speech pathology, required
- Current license to practice speech-language pathology in the state of practice, required
- Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC) required within twelve (12) months of receiving temporary license.
- Current BLS certification endorsed by the American Heart Association, required by completion of the unit-specific orientation and before working independently.
Nice-to-haves
- At least six (6) months of experience in the acute care setting, including experience with Modified Barium Swallow Studies, preferred.
